WDO’s Executive Director Delivers Speech During the Regional Meeting of the “Pink Tank” Regional Initiative for Arab Women’s Health

Riyadh, October 16th, 2023 – Executive Director of the Women Development Organization (WDO), H.E. Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, delivered a speech during the opening session of The Regional Meeting of the “Pink Tank” Regional Initiative for Arab Women’s Health that takes place in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabi on the 16th and 17th of October, 2023, and is organized by WDO, the League of Arab States (LAS), and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Family Affairs Council. The meeting coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) and aims to raise awareness of Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness. Besides, the aspects of meeting up with the needs of women with breast and cervical cancer.

“I would like to emphasize that breast cancer awareness goes beyond individual responsibility. It is a collective effort that requires us to come together as a society. By supporting organizations dedicated to breast cancer research, education, and patient support, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by this disease,” stated Dr. Alshuaiby during her speech.

The Executive Director added: “Cervical and breast cancer awareness is not just a health issue; it is a matter of social justice and human rights. By prioritizing prevention, early detection, education, and collaboration, we can make significant strides in reducing the burden of these diseases. Let us seize this opportunity to unite our efforts, advocate for change, and ensure that every woman, regardless of her background or location, has access to the necessary tools and support to prevent, detect, and treat cervical and breast cancer.”

The regional meeting hosted a number of inspiring speakers and thought leaders; including Senior Officials of Member States concerned with women’s affairs, doctors, experts, and representatives of regional and international organizations.
