Dubai, UAE – October 10, 2024 – Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, Executive Director of the Women Development Organization (WDO), delivered an opening statement at the 10th International Arabic Language Conference held in Dubai.
In her speech, Dr. Alshuaiby emphasized the pivotal role that the Arabic language plays in preserving cultural identity, as well as empowering women and advancing them toward leadership and active participation in society.
Dr. Alshuaiby expressed her heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continued support of initiatives aimed at strengthening the Arabic language. She noted that such efforts contribute to enhancing the presence of the Arabic language on both international and regional levels.
During her speech, Dr. Alshuaiby announced the launch of WDO’s latest initiative, titled “Redefining Empowerment Through Language.” This initiative merges two key concepts: “Empowerment” and “Self-Capability.” She explained that the initiative will equip women with the necessary skills to strengthen their roles in decision-making, economic participation, and cultural development.
Dr. Alshuaiby also highlighted the significance of the Arabic language in shaping the role of women in the society, allowing them to effectively engage in public discussions.
She reaffirmed WDO’s commitment to enhancing women’s capacities in various political, social, cultural, and economic spheres, ensuring their full participation in decision-making processes and enabling them to act as influential agents of change in society.
