15th of April 2023
On Saturday, 15th of April, WDO hosted the first session of its brand-new virtual series, The Talk!
The Talk aims to highlight and tackle tricky topics that may not otherwise be talked about, especially in relation to women. The first session's topic was Imposter Syndrome, and it was hosted by WDO and the accomplished radio and TV presenter Leen Al Halawani as the Talk’s 1st guest.
During the session, the speakers discussed the origin of imposter syndrome, how to identify it, what it's like to experience it, and how to get over it. Leen shared her experience with imposter syndrome during different periods of her career, especially during the challenging times of COVID-19. The speakers also discussed the symptoms of Imposter Syndrome, and Leen shared her pieces of advice to the speakers on how to deal with it. She also broke down the different types of Imposter Syndrome and how these types reflect on the person.
"Women are more likely to suffer from Imposter Syndrome, because they're usually the minority in most fields," stated Leen, while discussing how men and women experience it differently.
She also highlighted how the support of other women is crucial to getting past Imposter Syndrome. By the end of the session, the attendees joined in the conversation and had the floor to ask the speakers all their questions. WDO would like to thank the speaker and the attendees for the fruitful discussion and for taking part in the first session.
